Crop Consistency a major cause of concern

India is definitely the most agriculturally bio- diverse country in the world, with the potential to produce a vast majority of the agro produce, grown across the globe. However, there is one major cause of concern, which is produce consistency

According to experts there is definitely a lack of produce consistency, partly because of the sheer range of hybrid crops and another major reason is top soil inconsistency.
” India is a country where land holdings are extremely marginal. The average is just about 1.14 hectares and 8n the agro rich, irrigated and delta regions, it’s not even half a hectare. This results in extreme top soil discrepancy and in some cases overall degradation as the soil is overused to produce more, ” Observed P Venkateshwara Rao, a former field scientist with SCI.
Moreover, the focus on wheat and paddy has ensured that there is excessive monocropping on an unprecedented scale, which results in major output and produce inconsistencies.
