Cyanotis tuberosa root tuber extract and its active fraction (CTAF) demonstrated significant antihyperglycemic effects in STZ-induced diabetic rats, improving glycemic control, HbA1c, insulin resistance, plasma insulin, and lipid profiles. CTAF also reduced lipid peroxidation, restored antioxidant enzyme activities, and normalized liver and kidney functional markers. LC-ESI-MS/MS identified seven phytoconstituents, suggesting that C. tuberosa root tubers have potential as a complementary therapeutic agent for diabetes mellitus.
