Historically, major break-throughs in the field of health sciences were directly a result of a catastrophy. The swine flu pandemic, paved the way for the creation of the first stand alone health supplements, thereby creating a market and demand for supplements.
This pandemic, COVID-19 has also played a similar role in driving up the demand for health supplements. What was hitherto, nothing more than an add on has now become an absolute necessity.
“ The pandemic has resulted in creating grass root level awareness on wellness and holistic well-being,” Observed, Amit Srivastava, Chief Catalyst, Nutrify Today. Doctors too have played a key role in enabling this demand by urging public to consume, holistic, health supplements, to boost general immunity levels.
Dr Rajen Manekca, CEO, HOLISTA CALLTECH, stated, “ There is a growing trust in ingredients boosted by transparency, development of science based ingredients with added value and products offering multiple benefits. Fundamentally, this growth is being driven by solid, science and research validated production.”
However, experts believe that apart from focus on personal health, there is an indication of growing awareness on greater challenges such as global warming. According to Amit Srivastava, “ There is a demand for products which are enabled by the development of clean technological innovation.” Experts point out that this pandemic has forced nutra ingredient producers to promote eco-friendly and bio-durable methods of production, thereby reducing the size of the carbon foot print.
