Aker BioMarine’s Superba Boost krill oil significantly increases omega-3 levels in lupus patients, a recent study finds. Although overall disease activity was not reduced, a post-hoc analysis showed temporary improvement in severe cases. Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, causes the immune system to attack the body’s cells, affecting various organs. The study involved 78 lupus patients, who received krill oil or a placebo for 24 weeks. Results showed an increase in Omega-3 Index from 4.43% to 8.05%. This suggests potential cardiovascular benefits and improved disease activity, warranting further research. However, patients should consult their healthcare providers before changing treatments.
