In experimental models where muscle loss was triggered by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), γ-tocotrienol significantly preserved myotube size, suppressed atrophy-related genes such as MuRF-1 and Atrogin-1, and protected mitochondrial function, effects that were superior to those of α-tocopherol. Proteomic profiling revealed that γ-tocotrienol enhanced extracellular matrix organization and mitigated oxidative stress pathways, supporting both structural integrity and cellular resilience. In vivo, supplementation maintained muscle strength and promoted mitochondrial biogenesis while curbing pro-inflammatory signaling. These findings position γ-tocotrienol as a potent nutraceutical candidate for combating muscle wasting associated with inflammation, aging, and metabolic stress.

Source : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2213231725003878?via%3Dihub

Recent research highlights γ-tocotrienol, a potent member of the vitamin E family, as a promising intervention against inflammation-induced muscle atrophy.
