In a 24 week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 100 adults (19-60 years) were assigned to receive either Gynostemma pentaphyllum (GP) extract or a placebo, with 94 participants completing the study. The GP extract demonstrated significant improvements in multiple hair-health parameters compared with placebo. Hair elasticity increased by 58.14 \u00b1 40.43 gf in the GP group versus 19.92 \u00b1 22.54 gf in the placebo group (p < 0.0001). Total hair density (hair count per cm\u00b2) increased by 14.04 \u00b1 11.36 hairs\/cm\u00b2 compared to 4.85 \u00b1 8.60 hairs\/cm\u00b2 in the placebo group (p < 0.0001). Hair diameter increased by 17.49 \u00b1 6.08 \u03bcm, whereas the placebo group showed an increase of only 3.63 \u00b1 9.16 \u03bcm (p < 0.0001). Although instrumental measurements of hair gloss did not show significant differences between groups, the extract consistently enhanced hair strength, thickness, and density. Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract is a safe and effective functional ingredient for improving hair health and supporting hair growth, offering a potential natural approach for managing hair thinning and hair loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
